SKID MONSTER

The uniquely patented "Skid Monster" teaches preventive and operational skills for skid recovery. There is only one commercial school in Washington State that includes it as a part of their enhanced curriculum. NorthStar is the "home" of the Skid Monster, and Mr. Richey is the only Teacher of Teachers that helps you to control "the beast."

We invite drivers of all kinds to take part in this invaluable experience. It is an exceptional learning tool preparing any aged driver for our rainy or other "bad weather" days in the Pacific Northwest.

NorthStar Students

You can purchase a Skid Driver's Ed package but you must complete your Basic or Extras Driver's ED 101 course to register for this event and have 50 hours of driving practice under your belt. Parents are welcome to ride or even demonstrate their own abilities in the vehicle the day of the event.

We are happy to offer the Skid Monster as a training event at our HQ in Auburn. We start with a group seminar on general defensive driving tactics & workshop essential controls in a front-wheel drive vehicle necessary to handle a rear-end slide successfully. Send us an inquiry to get set up.

Skid Monster Event Details

Held at an open testing track with coned pathways. Typically in an unobstructed parking lot the size of half a football field.

1. The vehicle is controlled by an experienced licensed trainer.
2. There are three drivers on board during the 50-minute exercise.
3. Drivers rotate seats in 10-15 minute increments.
4. A final rotation allows the trainer to ensure the exercise fully impacted the drivers in participation. (1-5 minute final assessment)

Cost and Scheduling

$70/individual at the Park & Ride in Auburn at the South end of the airport.

Note well, students must have 50 hours of driving to participate.

We do not conduct the exercises during inclement weather.
