Whether they take online or in person classes, students' driving journies will be different. Once your teenager starts the Driver's Ed journey, they will begin what we call the Classroom Phase! These are the 5 weeks of classes they do either in person at one of our offices or online via Zoom.
After the 5 weeks of classes, they will be taking their in-person Driver's Ed Final- otherwise known as Class 15! This test is only for Driver's Ed, once passed students wll then begin their Driving Phase! Students will be able to schedule out all of the "hands-on" parts of Driver's Ed: their drive lessons, simulators, and observation.
Once they are completely done with both the Classroom and Driving Phases, the very final step will be their exams. All students must pass the Knowledge and Skills exams with 80% accuracy or higher, both of which can be done here at our school! If you purchased a "Bundled" package, you already have one of each exam paid in advance for your student.
Remember that our education program is a Partnership with parents, not a solo mission! Prior to the first drive, we do ask that your student has at least 5 hours of driving experience at home to be best prepared. Parents can see below for important documents needed for classes as well as a parent's guide so you can help your student from home!

Requirements for Driver's Ed:
Requirements for the Intermediate Driver's License (IDL):
Please, read the NorthStar FAQ's and attend the 1st Class with your teenager for a better understanding of the Graduated Licensing program in WA State.
In the state of Washington, failure to drive without a license is an RCW infraction which can result in a $250 fine.
Failure to respond to a ticket or to a court date can result in even more fines and a license suspension!
We want to help you avoid these situations and encourage your responsibility as a confident and secure driver, so we exercise a No-Show Fee system, to help prepare you for moving violations and their penalties as well as to encourage you to be a responsible person.
To avoid No Show Fees be sure to: bring a valid permit to all drives, cancel drive appointments at least 24 hours ahead of time, and arrive on time - no later than 15 mins after the appontment time.
