Defensive Driving: How it Works
Defensive Driving Levels
Here at NorthStar, we offer two different levels of Defensive Driving Courses (DDC). Level 1 is a 4 hour course priced at $45 and Level 2 is an 8 hour course priced at $90. Be sure you know what Level you need prior to signing up! Some courts may ask for specific course levels and may not accept anything other than that level.
How does Defensive Driving help me?
Defensive Driving Courses are designed to help you become a safer driver! Along with teaching you important information and making you aware of the dangers and realities of controlling a machine on the roads of WA State, it is a state-approved course which meets the requirements for court-orded referrals. Many state courts require an individiual to take a Defensive Driving Program class in order to defer prosecution on a citation issued. Once again, make sure you know what Level is required of you prior to signing up!
How to Begin
After purchasing your Defensive Driving Course in our Store, a staff member will reach out to you to gather information. You are required to have a WDL# and a reliable email. Once we have gathered the required information, you will have two different options to start your DDC! You can come in person to one of our offices and pick up the DVDs and the work packets OR you can request the online course!
How to use the Online DDC
If you choose the online DDC, a staff member will give you a specialized link, a pdf packet, and a personalized password via email. You will click the link and log in with your NorthStar website account to view the webpage. If you do not have an account, create one when prompted! After logging in, you will see more information on the course itself. You will need to use your personalized password to log into the course once you finish reading the introduction.
Completing the Online DDC
After you complete the online DDC, you will be prompted on what to do next on the screen. Follow those instructions! If you have any questions on the instructions on the Completion page, send us an email.
Encountering a Glitch in the Online DDC
If you happen to come along any glitches with the Online DDC, please let us know immedietely. We will promptly fix it and get you back on track!
